YOUR PATIENT JOURNEY

Specialised Orthotic & Prosthetic Care: What to Expect

Because orthotists and prosthetists are specialized allied healthcare practitioners, your rehabilitation follows a structured clinical pathway designed for optimal functional outcomes, medical scheme alignment, and long-term mobility.

01

Medical Referral & Initial Contact

Reach out via phone, WhatsApp, or our online portal. As Orthotists and Prosthetists are healthcare specialists, a formal referral letter from a qualified medical practitioner (General Practitioner, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Neurologist, Paediatrician, or Physiotherapist) is required to initiate specialized care and facilitate medical aid claims.

02

Clinical Consultation

Detailed evaluation of your medical history, primary diagnosis, daily lifestyle demands, occupational requirements, and personal mobility goals in a supportive clinical environment.

03

Biomechanical & Physical Assessment

Comprehensive physical examination, including muscle strength testing, joint range-of-motion evaluation, biomechanical gait analysis, and precision measurements, 3D scanning, or plaster casting for custom fabrication.

04

Treatment Plan & Pre-Authorisation

We formulate an individualized treatment plan utilizing South African Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (SAOPA) tariff codes. Our administrative team assists with clinical motivations and submits pre-authorisation requests directly to your medical scheme (e.g., Discovery, GEMS, Bonitas, Momentum, COID, or RAF).

05

Custom Fabrication & Device Ordering

Once pre-authorisation or financial approval is confirmed, your custom brace or prosthetic limb is engineered and fabricated, or specialized components are ordered from certified medical suppliers.

06

Precision Fitting & Alignment

Your custom device is fitted, dynamically aligned, and adjusted to ensure anatomical comfort, structural integrity, proper skin pressure distribution, and optimal functional gait.

07

Patient Education & Rehabilitation Guidance

Comprehensive instructions on donning and doffing your device, break-in schedules, skin inspection protocols, hygiene care, and safe daily operational practices.

08

Ongoing Follow-up & Maintenance

Scheduled clinical reviews to evaluate healing, monitor volume changes in residual limbs, make necessary biomechanical adjustments, and maintain your device as your mobility needs evolve.
